Aunt Wants Someone to Come Forward in Nephew's Murder
CINCINNATI (Angela Ingram) -- An aunt speaks for her murdered nephew after four years pass and the case goes cold.
Someone shot 18-year-old Jefferey Davis outside of his home in the West End. Davis died at the hospital. Angela Ingram spoke with his family about the frustration over the investigation.
Loretta Davis says witnesses refuse to talk to detectives. Right after the shooting, those witnesses told the family what happened, but won't say who's involved. "Jeffrey had a family who loved him very much. Right now I fell his murder is sitting on a shelf."
Witnesses say they saw a group of men chase down Jeffrey and shoot him but they won't talk to police. "We know who murdered Jefferey and other people know who murdered Jefferey. i'm here as a voice for Jefferey" says Loretta.
Loretta thought as Jefferey as a son. He was just 18-years-old in 2009, when he was shot at Linn and Chestnut streets in the West End. Jefferey ran several blocks to get away from the shooter. Loretta says "I truly believe he was targeted because of who he was with, who he hung with".
Loretta says the entire family is devastated about the murder, especially Jefferey's mother. "I have never lost a child, so I can't tell you how it is to lose a child. But my sister is hurting. If she can have some closure, it would make her feel better."
Loretta believes people are afraid to talk to police because they don't want to be labeled as snitches and they don't want to testify in court. She is hoping they will put their fears aside and do the right thing to help this family.
Anyone who knows who shot Jefferey Davis can call Crimestoppers at 352-3040. You never have to give your name.
