World Series of Poker at Horseshoe Casino
CINCINNATI (Adam Clements) -- Jason Newman runs the poker room at the Horseshoe Casino.
He says the stakes are high. Starting Thursday, thousands are expected to go all in.
"We'll have more, higher limit games, and our Friday, you know, thirty one tables in our normal poker room, we'll fill up on Friday and Saturday. It will be that way for five days straight."
The world series of poker is the best of the best, going head to head. Its the pinnacle of the poker scene,
and it's all happening right here in the Queen City.
"It's huge, says Newman. We have a very large poker community here in Ohio, especially in Cincinnati. These folks have traveled all over the world, to Las Vegas, to Atlantic City to play in World Series events. Now they have one right here, in their own back yard."
Even casual fans, like Alphonso Ciolino are intrigued.
"To have the world series of poker, I mean, the only time Ive dealt with the world series of poker was on a video game - PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2. That's the only time Ive been in a world series of poker. For it to be right in the home town of Cincinnati, is pretty exciting."
Newman hopes the event will benefit the casino, and the city, saying, Its going to be a great mix of people down here. Not just your serious poker players, but people out
