UC Mourns Loss of Freshman Football Player

HANOVER TOWNSHIP (WKRC) -- A University of Cincinnati football player is dead and two others remain in the hospital after a crash Saturday night.

It happened on a rural road in Butler County.

19 year old freshmen offensive lineman Ben Flick and two teammates were passengers in a car that lost control and over turned on Stahlheber Road at Morman in Hanover Township.

Flick died at the scene. 

UC wide receiver Mark Barr is in critical condition at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Another wide receiver, Javon Harrison, is in fair condition.

Miami freshman Sean Van Dyne, who was driving, is also in critical condition.

A neighbor who discovered the vehicle and called 911 and noticed the smell of alcohol.

Deputies say alcohol was a factor in the crash.

All three players attended but did not suit up for the Bearcats' 14-nothing win Saturday over Miami in Oxford.
