House Bill to Withhold Funding for Health Care

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKRC) -- Speaker John Boehner says House Republicans will pass a budget bill this week that withholds funding for President Obama's health care law.

The effort stands little chance in the Senate which is controlled by Democrats, setting up a showdown that could push the government toward a partial shutdown at the end of the month.

Speaker Boehner said, "There should be no conversation about shutting the government down.  That's not the goal here.  Our goal here is to cut spending and to protect the American people from Obamacare.  It's as simple as that.  There are no interests in our part in shutting the government down."

Funding to operate the Federal government runs out October first.
