OSP Cites Greyhound Driver for Crash

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol cited the Greyhound driver behind the wheel when a bus ran off of I-75 and overturned.

Dwayne Garrett is cited for failure to maintain reasonable control for the Sept. 14 accident that injured 35 people. It is a misdemeanor.

An investigatory report released Thursday shows that 64-year-old driver Dwayne Garrett told police at the scene of the accident Butler County, that he had been drinking coffee, started coughing, then lost consciousness.

Several passengers reported seeing the driver slumped over the wheel before the early morning crash. Garrett says he doesn't remember anything from the last mile before the accident.

The bus was carrying 51 passengers from Cincinnati to Detroit when it ran off Interstate 75. There were no life-threatening injuries.
