Lawmakers Propose Money for Natural Gas Conversions

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A bipartisan team of Ohio lawmakers wants to offer tax credits to convert cars and trucks to burn both gasoline and natural gas.

They're preparing legislation to give state tax credits to back conversions or to buy an alternative fuel option vehicle.

The measure would also create a multimillion- dollar loan program to finance refueling equipment as companies convert fleets of vehicles.

The credit would pay for up to 50 percent of the cost of conversion, which is $5,000 to $10,000 dollars for cars and up to $40,000 for large trucks.
