Cable barrier installation to begin on Interstate 71 in Gallatin County

COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) -- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 6 Office advises motorists of construction work on Interstate 71 in Gallatin County.  Contract crews will begin prep work this Wednesday, September 25th to install median cable barriers on several sections between mile points 69.6 - 59.8.

KYTC recently awarded a contract to the George B. Stone Company for installation of median cable barriers on Interstate 71 in Oldham and Gallatin counties.   The cable barrier project is finishing up work along 3 miles of roadway in Oldham County and will begin this week on 9.8 miles scattered along sections of I-71 in Gallatin County. 

The interior lane and shoulder may be closed from 10 PM Sunday evening until noon on Friday.  Motorists should be aware of closures, equipment and crews while this project is in progress.    

The contract amount for this project is $1.6 million and has a completion date of November 30, 2013.
