Clerk Critically Injured During Shell Station Robbery

FLORENCE, Ky. (WKRC) -- The clerk at the Shell station on Turfway Road is in critical condition after an overnight robbery.

Police say the thief attempted to stab the clerk, 67-year-old Kanubai Patel. During the struggle Patel tried to defend himself. The thief put him in a choke hold, seriously injuring his neck. Patel has not been able to move his arms or legs since the attack.

The thief stole Patel's wallet and then came back to steal his car. It's a 2009 Toyota Camry with Kentucky tags 622 JDG.

The robber is a black man, 20-25 years old with a stocky build. He was wearing black pants, a black jacket with white sleeves and a large J on the front, a black hat with a yellow flat brim and a red bandana.
