Murder Suspect Arrested After SWAT Situation in Court

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A murder suspect, who police arrested after a SWAT situation, is ordered held on a one and a half million dollar bond.

Al Rashid appeared in a Hamilton County courtroom Wednesday on murder, burglary and abduction charges.

Cincinnati police say Rashid ran into an apartment building in West Price Hill near Seton and Elder high schools Tuesday. The schools went into lockdown as police surrounded the building.

According to court papers, he did make his way into one apartment and tried to keep a man who lives there from leaving. He ended up hiding in the basement, until police negotiators talked him into surrendering.

Police were looking for Rashid because they say he shot and killed Michael Howe on October fourth in Bond Hill.
