Apartment Standoff Situation Ends Peacefully

UNION TOWNSHIP, CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) -- A standoff situation at an apartment complex ends peacefully.

Police rushed to an apartment building on Ohio Pike near Brandychase Way at about 5 p.m. Sunday.  Police tell Local 12 News a mother went to check on her adult son and according to the mother, he had been having a "hard time".  She then knocked on the door with no answer.  Officers say when she tried to open the door he fired several gun shots.  The mother ran and called police.

Investigators say when officers arrived they tried to get the man to come out of the home, but he would not.  SWAT was called to the scene.  Officers knocked out a back window to get to the man.  They say they found him sitting inside the room with a gun on his lap.

The situation ended at about 8 p.m.

Police have not said what may have led to the incident.  The man has been taken into custody.
