Enrollment for New Health Exchange Called KYNECT
NEWPORT, Ky (WKRC) -- Regardless of the government shutdown, people with no health insurance can begin signing up for plans Tuesday.
In northern Kentucky, about 55,000 people are uninsured. Social service and health care representatives helped them navigate the the new health benefit exchange called Kynect . They helped people figure out what their options were and which plan was best for them.
"I've taken the time to research the Kynect site and I've realized that basically that because I'm below the 400% of the poverty level I will be able to receive a lower rate for insurance that will be affordable for my family."
Those who purchase insurance through Kynect may receive payment assistance, special discounts or tax credits to help cover the costs of coverage.
