Five People Injured in Crash Near High School
INDEPENDENCE, Ky. (WKRC) -- An Independence road reopens Wednesday afternoon after a horrible wreck shuts it down for more than eight hours.
Rescuers took five people to the hospital after a car and pickup collided in Independence. The crash happened on Madison Pike just before 6a.m., right outside Simon Kenton High School. Crews had to cut open the car to rescue at least one of the four people inside.
Local 12 is told the driver of the car, Anthony Scott Wagner Junior, was going south in the northbound lane and slammed into the pick up. He and his three passengers, Nick Cecil, Rashawn Jones and Gary Chestnut were all taken to UC Medical Center.
At least one of those victims has life- threatening injuries.
The driver of the pick up, Jerry Howe, was taken to St. Elizabeth.
Officers have not said if alcohol played a role in the crash.
