New Fire Station Dedicated in Westwood
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- The city of Cincinnati dedicates its latest base of fire fighting operations.
A brand new Cincinnati Fire Station #35 stands proudly on Harrison Avenue in Westwood. It replaces the old station that served the community for more than a century. Firefighters say it's a huge and critical expansion. Station #35 is known as the midnight express. It has the most runs after midnight in the city.
The new one is more than twice the size and allows for better access and services. There are four bays for vehicles, instead of just one. The 18,000 square foot fire station has a bunk room, kitchen, day room and a workout facility. For the first time, women will have their own bathroom.
Firefighters say the new building will help them serve Westwood better. They will switch to the new location in a few weeks, after crews finish installing the dispatch technology.
