Needle Exchange Bill Clears Ohio House
CINCINNATI, Ohio (WKRC) -- A controversial needle exchange program is one step closer to becoming a law.
The Ohio House passed legislation that would allow local health boards to establish a syringe exchange program for drug addicts.
Supporters of the bill say it could help cut down on needle sharing by drug users, which has caused a spike in HIV and Hepatitis C.
But, those against the bill say if it passes, the state of Ohio would essentially be supporting illegal drug use. And, tax dollars would be used to buy the clean needles.
