Former finance director expected in court

COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) -- Bob Due is charged with stealing more than $600-thousand dollars from the city while he served the position.

This will be the first time in more than a month that we've seen anything new from Bob Due.

He was initially given house arrest while awaiting trial. But after two attempts at taking his own life, Due was ordered to do his waiting in jail.

He is expected in court this morning.

Due is accused of taking money from the city of Covington, depositing large chunks into a personal account.

In late August, Covington city staff members blew the whistle on Due when they noticed a lot of inconsistencies with numbers in the city's bank account. They were able to initially trace everything back to Bob Due, who was promptly arrested.

Since then, the state auditor has launched his own investigation and a special task force has been formed to figure out where the city goes from here, to find out how this could have been prevented..and how they can recoup the money that was allegedly stolen..

Due is expected in court later this morning.
