Body Found on Banks of Ohio River Identifed

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- The Hamilton County coroner identifies the body found on the banks of the Ohio River Sunday as 54-year-old Mark Parrish of Dayton, Ohio.

A tugboat operator reported seeing the body while working on some barges near Carr Street and Mehring Way. The Coast Guard was contacted and then the Cincinnati Police.

The homicide unit and the Hamilton County Coroner's Office responded to the scene because they did not know what kind of death they were dealing with.

"It's suspicious. We don't know if it's accidental or intentional or what," said Cincinnati Police Lieutenant Michael Fern.

Police have not released any other circumstances surrounding Parrish's death.
