Nightclub in Question: City Wants Diamond Palace Closed

CINCINNATI (Jeff Hirsh) -- The city of Cincinnati is not giving up its efforts to have a downtown bar/nightclub closed as a nuisance.

The city has filed a lawsuit, alleging nude and semi/nude dancing at  Diamond Palace in the 400 block of Elm Street.  The lawsuit also says there has been sexual contact between customers and dancers, and incidents of violence near the club

A closed door hearing was held Thursday afternoon by a Hamilton County judge on the city's request to close the bar.  No decision was made.

The hearing was continued for a week. City solicitor John Curp says the club might be able to stay open until the next hearing if all laws are followed, but the city 's long term goal is to have the bar shut down

The bar's attorney , Louis Sirkin, would only say the two sides were working on "some tentative arrangements."
