Foster Child Attempts to Set House on Fire

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- Butler County Sheriff, Richard K. Jones, has released information on a foster child attempting to kill his foster family by starting a house fire.

Deputies and Wayne Township Fire/Rescue crews were sent to the 5100 block of Waynes Trace Road around 7 p.m. Wednesday for a reported structure fire.

Five adults and one juvenile were in the home at the time of the fire.

Investigators have learned that a 14-year-old boy, a foster child from Franklin County, attempted to kill everyone in the house by starting a fire.  Police say he was physically pulled from his burning bed by a foster parent.  He was transported to Children's Hospital and was treated for smoke inhalation and other minor injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The boy has been initially charged with delinquency by reason of aggravated arson, domestic violence, and five counts of attempted murder.

Sheriff Jones released this statement, "It's sad that again we are dealing with the youth of our community not placing any value on life and attempting to commit murder.  It seems every time I think I've seen or heard it all, something else comes up that proves me wrong."
