Camera Battle Resolved For Now

ELMWOOD PLACE, Ohio (WKRC) -- A custody battle of sorts over traffic enforcement cameras in the village of Elmwood has been resolved...at least for now.

Back in June, a Hamilton County judge seized traffic enforcement cameras that were once in place in Elmwood Place.  Now an appeals court says he has to give them back to the company that provides them.

Elmwood Place lost a court battle to remove the cameras this summer.  But police continued to use them to collect traffic data while the case was under appeal.

So Judge Robert Ruehlman, who is presiding over the case, seized the cameras.  Now the appeals court says he must return them to the company that provides the cameras.

Elmwood Place is now looking into whether it will use the devices to collect traffic data while the case is under appeal.  The higher court also denied the plaintiff's request to squash that appeal before it is heard.
