Warning Against Halloween Contact Lenses

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- With Halloween just days away, Ohio's Attorney General is warning about those theatrical contact lenses.

The ones that give wearers the look of a cat, zombie or vampire.  They are illegal.  And there is a reason for that.

Unless you're been measured for the contacts by a professional, they are likely a bad fit.  One size cannot fit all when it comes to contacts.  Even though the lenses can change eyes to look weird for Halloween, the frightening effects may be more permanent.

Ohio Attorney General, Mike DeWine, said, "There are people who have lost their sight, infections, or scratched the eyes severely through these decorative lenses."

DeWine said the Attorney General's office goes after businesses that sell the Halloween lenses.  Fifteen cease and desist orders have been issued so far this year, ordering the sales to stop.
