Main Street Market Boarded-Up Due to Violations

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- An Over-the-Rhine mini-mart was ordered closed Friday morning for building code violations.

Signs went up, telling customers the Circle A Market was declared vacant by the city. A citation said the building, including the upstairs portions, was structurally unsafe with inadequate ways to get in and out from the upper floors, and had deteriorating walls.

Officials say the building at Main and 13th has been a problem for years and the owners lost a court appeal, so the store is out of business until the repairs are made.

Captain Gary Lee with Cincinnati police says "this business and others like it do not really cooperate with the other merchants in the area who are trying to build up Over-the-Rhine and the Main Street entertainment district."

Operators of the store had no comment.
