Matthew 25 Prepares to Help Victims of Typhoon
BLUE ASH, Ohio (WKRC) -- Matthew 25: Minstries is preparing shipments to send to the areas devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.
There are estimates that as many as 10,000 people have died as a result of the typhoon. Thousands of homes have been destroyed and many survivors lack food, water, shelter and medicine. Contaminated water has become a big problem. Many areas have no electricity and hospitals are overcrowded, if open at all.
"This is a disaster of major proportions," says Tim Mettey, CEO and Disaster Relief Coordinator of Matthew 25: Ministries. "The damage and loss of life is comparable to the Southeast Asian Tsunami in 2004. This will be a long-term relief effort for us. We are working with several partners in the Philippines to get critical aid to the victims as quickly as possible.
Monetary donations can be mailed to Matthew 25: Ministries, 11060 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242 or text CARING to 50555 to make a $10 donation.
