Post Claiming Tainted Candy FALSE

AMELIA, Oh (WKRC) The Amelia Police Department conducted an investigation following a false post made on Facebook.

The post urged parents who took their children trick or treating in Amelia to check the candy that comes in wrappers like Tootsie Rolls and gum. The post claims that something was put into some of these types of candies that caused 6 children to go to Clermont Mercy Hospital.

The Amelia Police Department contacted Clermont Mercy and other hospitals in the area and was able to confirm that none of the hospitals in our area have had any cases matching that description.

Parents should always inspect the candy that their children collect trick or treating but at this time there have been no confirmed reports of any tampering with candy in the Tri-State area.
