Camping Out for Magnet School Spots

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- The cold weather isn't stopping some local parents from roughing it for their kids. Local 12's Perry Schaible was out there with them this Friday morning.

Several parents are camping out in front of the Fairview-Clifton German Language School. Open enrollment doesn't start until November 19 at midnight. These steadfast parents say it's worth it to give their kids the best education possible.  They're all hoping for one of the just 35 spots available for kindergarten students.

Parents must break down their tents while the kids are in school. Some of the parents have worked out a system that will allow each of them to leave five hours at a time while another parent holds their spot. Others have set up rotating shifts with friends and relatives.

Cincinnati Public School officials discourage the campouts.
