Man Shot in His Own Home
A man is shot in his own house and his children call 9- 1-1 for help.
Police say the suspect got into a scuffle with the victim after knocking on the door of the victim's home.
Witnesses tell police that the suspect jumped into a SUV and it appears that another man was driving that vehicle and sped off.
The children who live in the house on redbird drive left their home with police minutes before a gunman fired a single shot into their dad's shoulder. Police activity on this quiet street is unusual.
Police say the suspect knocked on the victim's door around a quarter to five. Investigators aren't sure if he knew the victim but officers say an argument broke out between the two. He's a Hispanic male and does not speak fluent English so there apparently was a language barrier between the victim and the suspect.
Then a scuffle started and the gunman shot the victim in the foyer of his home.
Police say the 63-year-old man's three children were in the house. The three daughters were in different rooms when their dad was shot.
The community is hoping what happened was an isolated incident.
