West Price Hill Mother Accused of Child Abuse
A West Price Hill woman accused of abusing her child.
Christina Sturgill was arraigned on child endangering charges this morning. Local 12 has learned she had an extensive history of violent behavior toward children.
Reporter Adam Clements spoke with the detective who investigated Sturgill more than a decade ago.
Jerry Roy, retired Newport Detective called Sturgill "a monster....yeah That's how Jerry Roy describes Christina Sturgil. The woman charged with child engangering Wednesday.
I thought there's no way that can be the same Christina Sturgilthere's no way. And sure enough it is.."
Investigators say Sturgil's seven year old daughter had bruising, bite marks and a black eye and was severely malnourished. Roy knows a about her violent past, he was the lead investigator for Newport Police when Sturgil faced similar charges in the late nineties.
"The case that we had was an infant child approximately six months of age. She had been put up for adoption and the adoptive parents noticed something that led them to believe something was wrong with the child's legs. They took it to the hospital and it turned out the child had between eight and twelve fractures Jerry Roy says.
Sturgill was arraigned this morning. Her two children are in foster care.
On her facebook page she says she's pregnant with another child.
Jerry Roy tells us in that case involving the six month old Sturgill was never sentenced to any prison time. She was given parole so he says that's the part that still gets to him today.
The attorney for Christina Sturgill says her client denies these latest charges. She's being held on a million dollars' bond.
