Judge Must Defend Conference Trip to Hawaii

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Juvenile court Judge is defending her decision to take a trip to Hawaii.

Hunter is attending a judicial conference this week.

Last week, an appeals court warned Hunter she could be found in contempt if she didn't resolve a half-dozen cases involving children waiting to be placed in foster care or adopted.

Tuesday Judge Hunter released a statement about the trip saying it is important that she stay up to date with laws that are evolving and to find out what is working in other court systems.

Another issue on Hunter's plate involves allegations by the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office that Hunter or someone on her staff backdated documents to make it appear the prosecutor had them in a more timely manner.

Special prosecutors are handling that complaint.
