2013 Riverfest Fireworks

Thousands spent the day on Sunday celebrating the unofficial end of summer.

Riverfest 2013 wrapped up with a spectacular fireworks display.  Local 12's Adam Clements was along the riverfront. He shares with the story of one woman who's been staking out a special seat at the show for 25 years.

Jan Bacon is the Queen of Riverfest.

"It's a primo spot.  I sit at the top of the wall, nobody blocks me, easy access out."

She may as well be riverfest royalty.

Jan Bacon has had the same perfect view for the fireworks for nearly two and a half decades.

Jan Bacon says, "I'm here by a little bit after five in the morning on Saturday and wait for the park to open and throw my stuff down.  I usually have a couple sons that help me put it down and they leave and I sit here all day."

You'll learn fast.  You don't mess with the Queen.

"Someone kicked my stuff out of my spot and I told security and they told me to just rip it up and so i did."

Jan says it's not just the sights and sounds of the illuminated September sky she loves.  It's also the people.

For the tri state it's a tradition.  For the Queen it's a holiday.\

"Summer is not over until I see the fireworks.  The fireworks go on no matter what."
