New Couple In Ohio Gay Marriage Fight

Another plaintiff from Cincinnati joins the fight to have gay marriages recognized in Ohio, despite the statewide ban.
   
David Michener is asking a federal judge to order his recently deceased husband be listed on his death certificate as married, with Michener as his spouse.
   
According to court papers, Michener and William Ives married in Delaware in July. Ives died unexpectedly a week ago.
  
This afternoon a federal judge ordered David Brian Michener's recently deceased husband be listed on his death certificate as married.
  
Michener wanted the order before Ives' scheduled cremation tomorrow.
  
Michener is joining a similar lawsuit filed in July by another gay Cincinnati couple who married in Maryland and want their marriage recognized here.
   
John Arthur is dying and Jim Obergefell wants to be listed as his spouse.
