Documents Reveal Grand Jury Indicted Parents in Jonbenet Ramsey Case
BOULDER, Colo. (WKRC) -- Nearly 15 years after 6-year-old Jonbenet Ramsey was bludgeoned to death, a Colorado court releases documents that for the first time reveal charges a grand jury made against Ramsey's parents.
John and Patsy Ramsey never faced murder charges in the death of their six-year-old daughter, Jonbenet. But newly released documents show a grand jury indicted the couple for child abuse resulting in death and being an accessory to a crime, including murder.
The indictment says the crimes happened between December 25th and 26th, the day the 6-year-old beauty queen was found dead.
The grand jury accused the Ramseys of trying to delay the capture of their daughter's killer. While that person is never named, the Ramseys allegedly rendered assistance to a person suspected of the crime of murder.
The district attorney refused to prosecute the case. Patsy Ramsey died in 2006. The couple was exonerated two years later based on DNA testing which proved the killer was a stranger and not a member of the Benet family.
The court released only a small portion of the grand jury's indictment. John Ramsey believes the documents tell just part of the story and he is now demanding all of the documents be made public.
