Firefighters say snow hampered efforts at house fire

MASON, Ohio (WKRC) -- A family is forced from their Mason home after an early morning fire Tuesday morning.

Crews were called to a home on Carriage Drive a little before 5 a.m. Firefighters say the flames started in a garage. The fire did extensive damage to the garage and a room above it. The kitchen, which was next to the garage, was also heavily damaged. Firefighters say there is smoke and heat damage throughout the home. Firefighters believe the fire did an estimated $200,000 damage.

The family of five did get out of the burning home, however one faily remember did receive some minor injuries. The Red Cross is helping the family. Firefighters are still working to determine the cause.
