Beechmont Dancing Man Gets a Flash Mob Surprise
UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Deb Dixon) -- For months, drivers along Beechmont Avenue noticed the young man dancing with a sign for a mattress company.
He danced all day, in the heat of August and the chill of December. You couldn't help but admire that he was trying to have fun at a job that can't be all that much fun.
He became known as the Beechmont Dancing Man. After a Facebook fan page was created, fans surprised Cody Crothers with a flash mob Sunday.
More than a hundred people showed up at Cherry Grove to dance with Cody. They did more than that. The dancers donated money to Cody's college fund. He leaves for Ohio State next week.
Cody said he was touched and grateful. He also heard stories that his dancing makes people smile and more.
One woman's mother suffers from Alzheimer's and hardly ever speaks. When mother and daughter drove by Cody one day the daughter wondered out loud what kind of music the dancing man might be listening to. Her mother spoke up clearly, "something jiggy" she answered.
Of his sign dancing, Cody said he just wanted to have fun, and work hard too.
Monday morning a woman dropped off a check and a note for Cody at Mattress Solutions, the company that hired him. The letter told Cody he is an example that someone can have a great attitude at any job.
"Thanks for bringing joy to Beechmont Avenue it said. Good luck at college."
Mattress Solutions says it will miss Cody's connection to customers, but he could be back as the Beechmont Dancing Man during summer break from college
