Lincoln Heights Elementary Lifts Lockdown, Shooting Suspect Still at Large
CINCINNATI (Brad Underwood) -- A shooting forced an elementary school to go on lockdown Wednesday afternoon.
Police rushed to a shooting around 3:30p.m. near Lincoln Heights Elementary School. Soon after, the school was locked down.
Everything seems to be back to normal at Lincoln Heights Elementary as well as at the daycare near the school.
The scene has been cleared but police continue to search for the shooting suspect. The shooting happened on Leggett between Jackson and Van Buren Street.
Police tell Local 12 News reporter Brad Underwood a woman was shot once in the leg and taken to UC Medical Center. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
A male driver and the victim were driving when a group standing on the corner saw the driver and started shooting at the car.
Also involved in this incident, a stray bullet went through a school bus back window. The bus had just dropped off its last student. Nobody was hurt on board the school bus.
Brad Underwood spoke with a mother in the neighborhood, she said she was not able to get her kids out of daycare due to the lockdown. She couldn't help but worry whether everyone inside the school was OK.
Streets are back open around the scene but the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
