One Person Dies in Apartment Fire in North College Hill

NORTH COLLEGE HILL, Ohio (Brad Underwood) -- One person is dead following a three-alarm fire in North college Hill.

Firefighters were called to the North Creek Apartments on West Galbraith Road near Hamilton about 4:45 Friday afternoon.

The last set of fire investigators left the North Creek Apartment complex around 9:45p.m.  Cause of the fire is still unknown.

Investigators tell Local 12 it could be days before they have an answer to what caused the fire.

The Fire Chief says the fire most likely started in the apartment where the victim was found.  The victim's name is not being released.

The Deputy Chief Steve Conn says the fire burned so hot they had to change tactics while fighting the fire.

"As they made and attack on it the high heat drove them back. So we actually had to change the way we were going to attack this fire until additional units showed up.  We had such a heavy volume we ended up going defensive on it until we get a good control on it to make sure it was a little safer fore our personnel before we went in."

There were 24 units inside the apartment building where the fire was.  Three of those units sustained significant damage from the fire.

None of the tenants are being allowed back into that building Friday night.
