State of the Art Gun Range Opening in Newtown
NEWTOWN, Ohio (Rich Jaffe) -- Shooting sports have become big business in the tri-state and it is about to get even bigger.
Later this week an extraordinary shooting facility called "Ready Line" will be opening in Newtown. It's expected to draw shooters, both amateur and professional, from across the country for training purposes.
When "Ready Line" opens it's doors after Christmas, this 6.7 million dollar operation will be the only facility of its kind in the country. There will be 10 one hundred yard indoor shooting lanes which can handle everything up to the massive 50 caliber. Nineteen 25-yard shooting lanes all under climate control and a unique Hepa Filter air system.
Casual and professional shooters will be able to train, shoot, buy and even store their weapons here. Training is geared to both casual shooters and law enforcement.
Newtown Police Chief Tom Synan said, "You have a hundred yard range, a 25 yard range so you can do both your rifle and handgun which is kind of rare in this area. Plus you have a shoot house where you can practice doing multi-level type of entries, first floors and second floors. So we're very excited to have this type of facility that probably won't just bring law enforcement locally but hopefully even nationally."
Lane rental is just 16 dollars an hour and memberships range from 30 dollars a month all the way up to a private club platinum deal. Courses will include everything from hunter safety to advanced CCW courses and then some.
"Ready Line" owner, Chris Roma, said, "Our instructors are comprised of Marines MARSOC, Marines Special Operations Command, Navy seal team guys, OPATA certified instructors for the police officers so when they need to be qualified on their rifles their handguns there will be an OPATA instructor that can certify an entire department."
Chris Roma is going from his current 1,000 square feet facility to "Ready Line" which is almost 43,000 square feet.
"Ready Line" is located on Round Bottom Road in Newtown. It will open to law enforcement and platinum club members December 27th. The public opening is December 28th.
