Holiday Reunion: Brother and Sister Meet for the First Time

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (Angela Ingram) -- The holidays bring a happy reunion for a local family that searched for a loved one for years.

Kristina Carlton tried to find her brother for more than 30 years and the two finally met for the first time a little more than a week ago.

Kristina's son used a website to search for her brother.  The siblings talked and emailed each other for several months and few days ago they got a present that has been life changing for both of them.

Michael Weiskittel lived a short life.  He grew up in the Tri-State but died in a car crash at 22-years-old.  Before he died Michael fathered two children, Todd Weiskittel and Kristina Carlton.

The half-siblings raised by different mothers grew up thousands of miles apart.  Kristina was raised in Lawrenceburg, Todd's mother relocated.

When Kristina was a teen, she found out she had a half-brother, but for years she couldn't find Todd.  But this Christmas, Todd flew from Hawaii where he's lived for 14 years back to Cincinnati.

The siblings met at the airport and since then, they've been inseparable; sharing pictures, learning about each other and visiting their father's grave in Mt. Healthy.

Their lives are different now.  No more empty feeling.  Determination, love, and the internet brought them together.

Todd Weiskittel tells Local 12 that after years of living in Hawaii he plans to relocate and move back permanently to the Tri-State.
