Hundreds Gather for Goodwill Christmas Dinner for Area Families

SHARONVILLE, Ohio (Brad Underwood) -- For the past 11 years the Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries and the Sharonville Convention Center have partnered to provide area homeless with a Christmas dinner and party.

More than 300 people attended the event Wednesday and all were bussed in from area homeless shelters and treatment facilities in Hamilton County.

On one bus was 30 to 40 woman from First Step, a Residential and Outpatient treatment program dedicated to women. The ladies from First Step had no idea this was happening.

Ashley Ast says she found out 30 minutes before the bus arrived and this meal changed her night.

"I was in a bad mood when I got here and I walked in and seen how they had it set, it's nice, nice to have all of us here together," said Ast.

Chef Brad Muchnicki and his assistants sauced the turkey as the final guests arrive.  This is his second year cooking for the community.

"It feels good being able to help those in need, I like doing that and so does my crew," said Muchnicki.

There was also entertainment for the adults, and toys and a visit from Santa for the children.
