Murder Charges Filed After Building Collapse

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (WKRC) -- Philadelphia contractor is accused of choosing greed over safety and prosecutors say the decision cost 6 people their lives.

Murder and manslaughter charges were filed against Griffin Campbell Monday.

Campbell was in charge of the demolition of a 4-story building back in June. As that structure came down, an unsupported wall crashed into a Salvation Army store next door.

6 people inside the store were killed.

Prosecutors say Campbell removed bricks and braces that supported the wall even though the architect warned him not to.

The crane operator on the job has also been charged.  Prosecutors say he was high on marijuana and painkillers.
