Deputy assault suspect in court

HAMILTON CO, Ohio (WKRC) -- A man charged with assaulting a Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy appears in court Friday.

Samuel Segrist is currently locked up on a theft and assault charge. Investigators arrested him Thursday afternoon in Clermont County. A Hamilton County deputy pulled Segrist over late Wednesday night in Anderson Township for expired tags.

During the stop the deputy says he found drugs in Segrist's car. That's when the deputy says Segrist punched and wrestled him to the ground, and then ran away. The deputy was not seriously hurt.

Segrist will eventually be returned to Hamilton County to face the assault charge.
