Father Sentenced to Probation after Baby Remains Found
ADAMS COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) -- A local man who was accused of burning the remains of his baby will not go to prison.
Tuesday a judge in Adams County sentenced Keiven Merz to three years probation on a charge of tampering with evidence. He was charged along with his wife Jane.
The couple admitted to having a stillborn baby in September of 2011. In July of this year deputies found what they believe to be partial remains of the child on property owned by the couple in the Peebles area.
The judge ordered Merz to pay a 2,000 dollar fine and said he could get the money back if the child receives a proper burial.
