TRIVIA: A Christmas Carol

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A seasonal favorite, "A Christmas Carol", is playing at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.

Of course, this tale is based on the classic book of the same name by Charles Dickens. This short story was printed in 1843.

Today's stumper is: How soon after publication of Dickens' book was "A Christmas Carol" first performed on stage?

ANSWER: A.) 6 Weeks

"A Christmas Carol" was published in 1843, and according to the website for UK Newspaper, The Telegraph, within six weeks an adaptation of the book hit the London stage.

It ran more than 40 nights then was taken to New York's Park Theatre.

Ten years later, in 1853, the website adds that Charles Dickens gave a public performance of the book himself in Birmingham, England's town hall. According to The Telegraph, it was the first time that a great author had performed their works in public and for profit.
