Mother Arrested after Toddler Son Found Outside in the Cold
HAMILTON, Ohio (WKRC) -- A Hamilton mother is arrested after three-year-old son was found crying out in the cold before 5 a.m.
A neighbor called police, after hearing the boy crying in front of his home on Chestnut Street Sunday morning at 4:40 a.m. Police say the boy was wearing only a t-shirt and jeans in the 19 degree weather.
A few minutes later, Amanda Jacobs walked in her back door. When asked where her son was, she said he was upstairs. When police said he'd been outside, she told them she'd only been at her friend's house for ten minutes. However, it was about 20 minutes from when the neighbor said she heard the toddler crying to when Jacobs arrived home.
The boy's father, Kurt Ford, is defending Jacobs. "She's a great mother, she just walked next door."
The boy is okay. He is with Ford. Ford blames himself. He says he and some friends were away. They coach a youth basketball team and they were planning strategy for the upcoming season.
Jacobs is charged with child endangering.
