Streetcar petition drive begins
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Cincinnati streetcar supporters kicked off their petition drive this morning to keep the project alive and put it on the ballot early next year.
About 50 supporters braved the cold outside City Hall this morning to lay out their plans. The ballot language calls not only for keeping the project on track but creating a public-private partnership to raise the money to operate the streetcar. Organizers need 5700 signatures to get the issue on the ballot and say they will have twice that number by this weekend.
They are kicking off the petition drive tomorrow night with a rally to get signatures and train volunteers at an Over-the-Rhine church.
