Freestore Foodbank December food distribution
OVER-THE-RHINE, Ohio (WKRC) -- Holidays are a special time. They are also one of the most challenging times of the year for children and families in need in our hometown. Nearly 300,000 people living in the 20 counties served by the Freestore Foodbank are not always sure from where their next meal is coming. Almost 100,000 are kids.
Starting Friday morning, the Freestore Foodbank will host its annual December Holiday Food Distribution, providing food for a holiday meal to children and families in need in our community. Each household will receive a bag of produce and either a chicken or turkey. The Freestore Foodbank will also provide each household with a holiday box containing canned vegetables, fruit, cranberry or pumpkin, stuffing or rice, onions, potatoes, apples, macaroni and cheese, and brownie mix or another dessert.
During the December Holiday Food Distribution, the Freestore Foodbank will also have Navigators and certified application counselors on-site at its Customer Connection Center to help individuals enroll in health insurance or Ohio Medicaid. The Freestore Foodbank launched the Navigator program last month as part of the Affordable Care Act.
The center will pass out food Friday, Saturday and Monday.
