And The Top Dog Is...

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- The Labrador Retriever sets a record as the nation's most popular breed for another year.

The American Kennel Club says its the longest amount of time any breed has been top dog since the organization was founded in 1884.  The lab was chosen most popular last year for the 23rd consecutive year.

Rounding out the top five are German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Beagles and Bulldogs.  The Poodle had a 22-year reign as number one a few decades ago.

The rankings reflect newly registered dogs, most of which are puppies.
