Eastgate traffic delayed for another week

UPDATE FROM ODOT: Due to this week's weather forecast, work to implement the opening of the two ramp reconfigurations at I-275 and SR 32 in Eastgate has been canceled, and is tentatively rescheduled for the week of Jan. 27. Work to implement the traffic switch for Eastgate Blvd. bridge has also been canceled for this week.

UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Adam Clements) -- Some traffic changes Monday and Tuesday, as construction continues in the Eastgate area.

Monday, a traffic light will be activated for drivers from northbound I-275 getting off on State Route 32. Drivers can go either east or west at the light. As part of this, drivers will be redirected to new pavement and the new bridge. There could be a few delays.

Transportation officials will activate a traffic light going in the opposite direction tomorrow.
Officials with the Ohio Department of Transportation say the project is mostly on schedule. There have been a few delays due to the weather, but the workers are powering through. "This time of year they're still working out there, they haven't shut down for the winter, so they're doing what they can weather permitting, so we hope to see it finished in fall of 2015."

If you travel in the Eastgate area, you've likely seen a huge tunnel in the construction area and wondered how it will come into play. Once it's completed, some traffic coming from I-275 to State Route 32 will go through the tunnel. Traffic traveling from State Route 32 to Eastgate Boulevard will travel on top of the tunnel.
