Former Cincinnati Mayor Running for Probate Court Judge

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) -- A former Cincinnati mayor is getting back into politics.

Charlie Luken filed paperwork Thursday to run for Hamilton County Probate Court Judge.  Current Judge James Cissell isn't allowed to run for re-election due to age restrictions.

Luken was Cincinnati's mayor from 1984 to 1991 and again from 1999 to 2005.  He currently does government regulatory and lobbying work at a law firm.

Probate court handles a wide variety of cases, including mental health, marriage licenses, wills, and estate work.  Luken tells Local 12 News public service is in his DNA, he misses it, and he'd like to end his career this way.
