Cold Blast Cuts Off Water in Owen County
OWEN COUNTY, Ky. (Josh Knight) -- Temperatures are going up but one community is still struggling with problems with this weeks cold snap.
Water is out in Owen County due to a number of water line breaks. The arctic temperature were just the beginning of problems for residents in Owen County.
By Monday night, thousands of them were realizing they didn't have any running water. But officials say by Friday, more water will be back in the system and in the water tower.
The freezing temperatures caused a major break in the water pipe draining the system. But, people have been able to get drinking water and volunteer firefighters say the gallons have been going fast.
Kentucky American water says all the major breaks that they know of have been fixed. They hope to have water back to most people by Friday.
But, they ask the people to still conserve even as the water returns and the system is filling up.
