Man Accused of Shooting Daughter Wants to Attend Funeral

SEDAMSVILLE, Ohio (WKRC) -- The man accused of accidentally killing his 11-year-old daughter wants out of jail so he can go to the funeral.

Deandre Kelley's lawyer filed a motion asking he be allowed to go to Shanti Lanza's funeral Saturday. According to the paperwork, it's at the request on Shanti's family. Kelley is currently in jail on a $500,000 bond.

Kelley is charged with reckless homicide.  Police say he was fighting with Shanti's mother Sunday in Sedamsville.  He fired a shot into the ceiling to scare the woman.  That bullet struck and killed Shanti while she was sleeping.

A decision on whether Kelley can go to the funeral will be made at a hearing Thursday at noon.
