Firefighters battle flames and weather at Forest Park apartment

FOREST PARK, Ohio (WKRC) - Firefighters had to deal with very cold temperatures and windy conditions when fighting a fire at an apartment building in Forest Park early Monday morning.

Crews were called to the Northland Village Apartments on Northland Boulevard near Waycross Road about 1 a.m. Monday. There was heavy smoke in the attic. Because it was so windy, a second alarm was called. A lot of ice also accumulated at the scene due to the below-freezing temperatures. Crews from eleven other fire departments came in to help.

Everyone did make it out safely. Six families were displaced by the fire. Four are staying with family or friends. Northland Village put up the other two families at a motel. The cause it still not clear.
